At Hatfeild we celebrate the 'uniqueness' of every child, inclusion is at the heart of all we do, and we are committed to providing an adapted and individualised education to all children whilst maintaining high expectations.

We believe that all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, have a right to be fully included in all aspects of school life. Including the entitlement to quality first teaching and a high quality broad and balanced academic and social curriculum. 

We understand that for most families, primary school may be the beginning of their SEND journey. As a school, we are here to support, listen to and guide our families throughout the process. At Hatfeild we work in partnership with all of our families to ensure that every child's needs are met and that they are able to be the best that they can be. 

 If your child is having difficulties with their learning or if you are concerned (or have questions) about their progress, our staff are always happy to talk with parents about how they can support their child together. The teacher may plan work to meet your child’s needs and additional adult support may be given.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities - Local Offer

Our SEND Information Report is available to provide guidance on what you can expect at Hatfeild Primary School in terms of what support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.  

We are supported by our Local Authority, Merton, to be as inclusive as possible and ensure that the needs of all pupils with SEND are met in our mainstream setting. We also benefit from the expertise of our staff in our Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP).

Sometimes the school will seek advice from an outside agency such as the Educational Psychologist or Speech Therapist. We are also experienced in supporting parents to secure an external assessment of a child’s needs which may result in securing an EHC (Education, Health and Care plan) that sets out a statutory entitlement to enhanced support for your child’s learning in school.

Our SEND Information Report is reviewed annually, responding to feedback from children, parents, staff and governors.
