PE & Sports Funding

Background

All state-maintained schools, academies, middle schools, special schools and pupil referral units which have primary aged pupils receive additional funding through the Sports Premium funding. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision for PE and sport in schools.

We will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils' progress and participation in PE and school sport. We are required to publish online information about how we have used the additional funding, including details about our sporting provision alongside curriculum details.

This will ensure that parents and carers and others are made fully aware of the PE and sporting provision at Hatfeild.

This year we have been awarded The Platinum Award in recognition of our commitment to physical education and school sport after achieving the Gold Award for the past 5 years.

With the Sports Premium we aim to:

At Hatfeild, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of children. We believe that an innovative, varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.

Our Primary School Sport’s Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through employing additional sports professionals, entering into more competitive sports competitions and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions.

We strive to use the funding to ensure that we are:

  • Promoting healthy, active lifestyles
  • Using PE as a tool for whole school improvement
  • Improving staff subject knowledge
  • Offering a broad range of challenging and inclusive experiences
  • Promoting competition for all
