Pupil Premium

At Hatfeild we have high aspirations and expectations for our children and we believe that no child should be left behind. We are determined to ensure that our children are given every chance to realise their full potential and given every opportunity to grow and flourish at Hatfeild.

What is Pupil Premium Funding?

Pupil Premium funding is additional funding allocated to all schools to support disadvantaged pupils. A school receives a pupil premium for:

  • Children that are cared for or adopted from care;
  • Children whose parents are in the armed forces;
  • Children who have received free school meals over the past 6 years.

Universal Free School Meals

All children in London Primary Schools  are currently entitled to the universal free school meals initiative. This means that all children in Reception to Year 6 have a delicious and healthy meal every day in school free of charge.

We would still urge parents to complete a Free School Meals application as these children may still be eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant, helping us to provide more resources, staffing, subsidise trips and help support your child’s development and learning.

Support Provided by Pupil Premium Funding

At Hatfeild we seek to ensure that Pupil Premium Funding is used effectively. We recognise that barriers to learning and achievement take a variety of forms and look for ways to support individual children to achieve their best.  We do this by offering your child a wide range of opportunities and ensuring that these are accessible to everyone. We work with our families to ensure high aspirations for all.

The range of provision the school is using may include:

  • Small group work with an experienced teacher, HLTA or teaching assistant that is focused on closing gaps in learning.
  • Booster groups and interventions to accelerate progress and ensure pupils achieve at least age-related expectations
  • Jigsaw 4 U Play Therapy and a specialist behaviour worker
  • Additional teaching and learning opportunities are provided through trained TAs or external agencies.
  • Resources aimed at raising standards, particularly in reading, mathematics and phonics.
  • Extra-curricular enrichment (e.g. trips and clubs)
  • Emotional literacy support to promote emotional well-being and resilience, which in turn impacts on learning.
  • Support to improve punctuality and attendance

This provision is provided on a needs basis.
